Contact, restarts, and a dominant night undone define Race 3 at Rockingham
The AARN Truck Series delivered its first true classic of the season at Rockingham Speedway.
After two weeks of dominance by Howard Peeples, Adam Ramsey broke through for his first win of the year — but not without controversy, chaos, and a dramatic late-race shakeup that completely rewrote the finishing order.
A race that had been controlled for most of the night by Daryl W Johnson turned in the closing laps, as contact between Johnson and Ramsey with just 10 laps remaining set the stage for a frantic finish featuring two green-white-checkered restarts.
Ramsey Delivers When It Matters Most
For the first time this season, Adam Ramsey put together a complete race.
Starting 7th, Ramsey methodically worked his way forward, avoided major mistakes, and positioned himself inside the top group as the race entered its final stretch.
When the opportunity came late, Ramsey capitalized — taking control after the late-race incidents and executing through two restarts to secure the win.
It was the kind of performance that validates everything he showed in the first two races.
Johnson’s Dominant Night Slips Away
For most of Race 3, the story belonged to Daryl W Johnson.
Starting 2nd, Johnson controlled the race with authority, leading a race-high 75 laps and setting the tone for long-run speed.
But with just 10 laps remaining (Lap 117), the race took a decisive turn.
While battling near the front, Johnson and Ramsey made contact, which sent Johnson backward in the running order. After leading the majority of the race, he fell to 7th, turning a dominant night into one of the toughest outcomes of the season.
It’s the kind of result that will weigh heavily going forward — speed was there, but the finish wasn’t.
Two Green-White-Checkers Decide the Race
The late contact triggered a chaotic finish.
The race went into overtime twice, with two green-white-checkered restarts giving multiple drivers one last shot at the win.
Through both restarts, Ramsey remained composed, maintaining track position and executing cleanly while others struggled to gain ground.
Those final laps ultimately decided the race — and Ramsey was the driver who handled them best.
Field Shuffled by Incidents and Pressure
Rockingham proved to be one of the most demanding races of the season so far, and several front-runners saw their nights fall apart late.
Howard Peeples, coming in with two straight wins, started on the pole and led 15 laps, but finished 9th after a race that included 10 incident points.
Gary May experienced one of the toughest nights in the field, dropping from 3rd to 15th (-12 positions).
Benjamin Castle also lost ground, falling from 5th to 13th, while Brian J Boyd showed strong speed early — leading 17 laps — before settling for 7th.
Even drivers who moved forward weren’t immune.
Douglas Scalice climbed from 10th to 5th, but also recorded 10 incident points, highlighting how difficult it was to keep a truck clean over long runs.
Big Charges Through the Field
While some drivers faded, others took full advantage of the chaos.
Clifford Allison III delivered one of the drives of the season, climbing from 12th to 2nd (+10 positions).
Shawn Hughes matched that effort, charging from 13th to 3rd (+10 positions) and even leading a lap along the way.
Those runs reshaped the podium and proved that track position late wasn’t everything — execution still mattered.

The Season Just Got Interesting
For two weeks, the AARN Truck Series belonged to Howard Peeples.
Now, it doesn’t.
With Ramsey’s win — and the way it happened — the season has officially shifted from dominance to competition.
Peeples still has the wins.
Ramsey now has the breakthrough.
Johnson has the speed — but also the frustration.
And behind them, a group of drivers just proved they can capitalize when things get chaotic.
