Peeples Goes Back-to-Back at Texas

Early contact, pit penalties, and a late pit cycle shape Race 2 at Texas Motor Speedway

Two races into the AARN Truck Series season, one storyline is becoming clear: Howard Peeples is the driver everyone is chasing.

Peeples captured his second consecutive victory Wednesday night at Texas Motor Speedway, emerging from a late green-flag pit cycle ahead of the field and controlling the closing run to secure the win.

While several drivers showed race-winning speed throughout the night, Peeples capitalized when the race’s key moments unfolded.

Ramsey Controls the Early Stages

The race began with Adam Ramsey firmly in command.

Starting from pole position, Ramsey quickly showed the strength of the No. 97 truck, leading the early portion of the race while recording the fastest lap of the event (29.875).

For much of the opening run Ramsey maintained control in clean air and appeared to have one of the fastest trucks in the field.

Lead Battle Turns Into First Major Incident

The race’s first major turning point came during a battle for the lead when Adam Ramsey and Zackery King made contact while racing for the top spot.

The incident sent Ramsey around and dropped the pole sitter deep in the field, dramatically reshuffling the running order.

King briefly inherited the lead as the race transitioned into its next strategic phase.

Pit Road Becomes a Storyline

As the race progressed toward the middle stages, green-flag pit stops began to shape the outcome of the race.

Several drivers ran into trouble on pit road during the sequence:

Benjamin Castle was penalized for speeding on pit road

Brian J. Boyd received a speeding penalty during the pit cycle

Justin Young was also caught speeding on pit road

Joseph Konen was penalized for entering closed pits

Despite the setback, Boyd still managed to lead 15 laps, showing strong pace before pit road trouble interrupted his night.

Pit Cycle Shuffles the Lead

During the final green-flag pit sequence the lead briefly rotated among several drivers as pit stops occurred at different times.

At various points the lead cycled through:

Adam Ramsey

Douglas Scalice

Howard Peeples

Once the pit sequence fully played out, Peeples emerged ahead with clean air and control of the race.

Ramsey Mounts a Recovery Drive

Ramsey’s race wasn’t over after the early incident.

After falling as far back as 11th place, the pole sitter began climbing back through the field.

His recovery became even more challenging later when he received an admin-issued end-of-line restart penalty following contact with Marc Bender2.

Despite the setbacks, Ramsey fought back to salvage a third-place finish, one of the strongest recovery drives of the race.

Peeples Finishes the Job

With track position secured after the pit cycle, Howard Peeples maintained a steady pace through the closing laps.

Neither Ramsey nor Zackery King could mount a late challenge, allowing Peeples to take the checkered flag and extend his early-season momentum.

Through two races, Peeples now stands as the only repeat winner of the season.

Hard Chargers

Two drivers quietly produced some of the most impressive drives of the night:

Marc Bender2
Started 11th → Finished 4th
+7 positions

Douglas Scalice
Started 13th → Finished 6th
+7 positions

Both drivers steadily worked their way forward and remained factors near the front during the later stages.

Driver Laps Led
Howard Peeples 48
Zackery King 20
Brian J Boyd 15
Adam Ramsey 12
Shawn Hughes 3
Douglas Scalice 2

Peeples led nearly half the race distance, taking control when it mattered most.
