Clark Goes Back-to-Back in Las Vegas Thriller

Hard Chargers, Breakthrough Runs, and Race-Changing Incidents Define AARN Race 5

The All American Racing Network Cup Seriesarrived at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Race 5, and the desert oval once again delivered a race defined by strategy, speed, and survival.

When the 134-lap battle came to an end, Coulter Clark emerged victorious, capturing his second consecutive win and further strengthening his early-season momentum.

Clark started seventh and steadily worked his way forward during the opening half of the race. By the time the field settled into the closing stages, Clark had positioned himself inside the lead group and capitalized on clean air to control the final run.

Leading 47 laps, Clark crossed the finish line 0.265 seconds ahead of the field to secure the win.

Back-to-back victories now place Clark firmly among the championship favorites as the season continues to develop.

🥈 Podium Finishers

Jordane Whyte — 2nd

Whyte continued his strong campaign with another disciplined performance. Starting on the front row, he remained within striking distance throughout the race and finished just a fraction of a second behind Clark.

With another podium result, Whyte continues to quietly build one of the most consistent seasons in the series.

Robert Hissong — 3rd

One of the race’s standout performances came from Robert Hissong, who climbed from 10th on the grid to finish third.

Maintaining competitive pace throughout the event, Hissong avoided incidents and positioned himself well during the closing laps to secure his first podium result of the season.

🚀 Hard Charger of the Race

Kameron M. Combs

Few performances were more dramatic than Kameron M. Combs’ charge through the field.

After starting 25th, Combs carved through traffic and advanced all the way to 4th, gaining 21 positions, the largest improvement among the front runners.

The run continues a season-long pattern for Combs: impressive speed and aggressive recovery drives that repeatedly put him back into contention.

⭐ Midfield Spotlight

Douglas Scalice

One of the quiet highlights of the race came from Douglas Scalice.

Starting 23rd, Scalice methodically worked forward over the course of the race and secured a top-five finish in fifth, one of the most impressive improvements among the leaders.

The result marks one of the strongest performances of his season so far.

🔍 Under-the-Radar Drive

Kristopher Foote

While much of the attention focused on the front of the field, Kristopher Foote delivered another clean and competitive run.

Starting fifth and finishing sixth, Foote remained consistent throughout the event and avoided the incidents that disrupted several other drivers’ races.

⚡ Fastest Car on Track

Although he finished seventh, Zackery Kingdisplayed some of the race’s strongest raw speed.

King led 43 laps and recorded the fastest lap of the race (29.235), demonstrating the pace needed to control large portions of the event.

Late-race track position ultimately kept that speed from translating into a podium finish.

⚠️ Incidents That Changed the Race

Las Vegas was not without its setbacks, and several drivers saw promising runs disrupted by incidents and contact throughout the event.

Traffic on the long green-flag runs forced drivers into difficult situations, and a handful of competitors who showed early speed were pushed back in the order after contact or off-track moments.

In races like Las Vegas—where long runs reward patience—one mistake can quickly turn a potential top-five into a recovery drive through the field.

📋 Field Notes

Several drivers quietly produced strong performances deeper in the field:

• Tony Creager gained 16 positions, finishing eighth after starting 24th.
• Gregory Vadnais added another steady top-10 finish in ninth.
• Adam Ramsey completed the top ten after starting 11th.
• Matt Oplinger continued a solid run with a 12th-place finish.

📊 Stat That Matters

Five races into the season, multiple races have been won by drivers starting outside the top five.

Las Vegas continued the trend, with Clark starting 7th before charging forward to claim the victory.

The pattern highlights a key theme emerging in the series: race execution and long-run pace are proving more important than starting position.

⚠️ Tough Breaks

Several drivers saw promising runs slip away during the Las Vegas event.

Kevin E. Bullock

Bullock started near the front in 3rd, but contact and race incidents pushed him deep into the running order, turning what looked like a potential top-five night into a difficult recovery race.

W. Casey Gross

After starting 4th, Gross had early pace but struggled with race incidents that dropped him outside the top ten by the finish.

Corey Powell

Powell kept the car clean for most of the race but lost ground during the long green-flag runs, preventing him from advancing through the field despite a steady effort.

What Las Vegas Told Us

Five races into the season, the championship picture is beginning to take shape.

Clark’s back-to-back victories introduce the first real winning streak of the year, while drivers like Whyte, Romano, McMeekin, and Combs continue to position themselves as consistent contenders.

At the same time, the depth of the field continues to show. From podium breakthroughs to midfield charges, Las Vegas demonstrated that nearly anyone in the pack can deliver a standout performance on the right night.

And with several drivers still searching for their first victory, the battle for momentum is far from over.
